PerforMANcedinners & Edible Sculpture
Conference that featured the work of Martinez as an edible and performance artist, with references to creators who, from the renaissance to present day, work in the area of gastronomy, either devouring with the eye or offering food as a work of art. The artist also spoke about his Canibalismo gourmet (gourmet cannibalism) project.
The artistic work of César Martínez Silva has moved through different conceptual techniques and productions, including using gunpowder and dynamite for artistic purposes “deconstructing the destructive”, creating with that which destroys; and also using electronic and digital media in different mediums, including both on-screen and interactive performance pieces. The creation of edible and digestible human sculptures has opened opportunities to both view and sample the artist’s work in different countries. His goal: share his point of view on the Tratados de Libre Comerse (Free Food Agreements) like the North America Cholesterol Free Trade Agreement or the North America FAT Free Trade Agreement.
